When iTunes goes bad

So, teaching yesterday and needed to use iTunes as its the default for playing CDs.  In this case the CD in question was an English CD needed for a lesson.  iTunes did an automatic update which then crashed the system.  Fortunately, I had another computer without the latest update so I went to that route.  If anyone has updated iTunes and now finds themselves locked out here is what you will need to do:

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)

Remove all of these items in the following order:
  • iTunes
  • Apple Software Update
  • Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
  • Bonjour
  • Apple Application Support

Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. Some users may need to follow all the steps in the appropriate support document which includes some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Ugh....sometimes students just don't listen

Ok...so, why is it that you can tell and student over and over again that their thought process just isn't correct yet that student insists on continuing to try a failing endeavor?  So frustrating.

Well...guess its time to get back to this

As I sit to write this during my engineering class (don't worry, they are all at work busy on creating survival challenge machines) I find that I must get used to blogging at some point so that I can take on a new elective for next year which in part deals in teaching students how to blog.  Imagine that! So, sit back as I try my best to get back into gear of this blogging thing.

Easter Break is here!

So, when did we move away from this time of year being called Easter Break or Easter Vacation to Spring Break? Either way, kids are happy to be off and so are us teachers!
